FAQs
When our experts are engaged by a client we maintain their availability and commitment to that project or dispute. This isn’t always the case in larger, better-known firms. In fact, PDQ was established after working for and against large, high headcount consultancies where management often allocates staff to prioritise revenue for private equity investors and shareholders.
We were determined to create a consultancy that operates more equitably and places duty to tribunals and clients before short-term profit.
In the real world, disputes take on a life of their own. Documents are disclosed, facts are challenged and timetables are revised. Even renowned experts can find they have taken on more work than they can handle. This can lead to an over-reliance on assistants or cheaper resources, and, in some cases, experts being caught out under cross-examination.
Our small team of experts at PDQ are more agile and aware of their personal limitations, and put high value on maintaining their reputations for delivery, integrity, and commercial fair dealing.
We are free of any conflicts of interest that could be perceived to impact our professional opinions:
- We are 100% founder-owned and financed, with no private equity firms or shareholders demanding returns on investment.
- We are not dependent on repeat work from a major client or law firm.
- We are not aligned with law firms or clients through joint marketing presentations, whether sponsored, paid or unpaid.
Prior to being appointed, we undertake thorough conflict checks to ensure that any reasonably foreseeable potential conflicts are identified. We consider all relevant parties in a supply chain and the matters in dispute. For example, outside the normal ’employer, contractor’ checks we aim to include relevant subcontractors, sub-subcontractors, and other interested parties.
We are transparent with clients at each stage in our proposals and after appointment. Our pricing is based on the value of tasks performed by an appropriately skilled resource. If a simple task/junior resource is required but a senior resource is the only one available, the client is only charged the appropriate/junior resource fee.
Our pricing models are flexible based on the availability of client data, complexity and certainty of issues and timetables, all of which are considered in our detailed fee proposals. We can offer lump sums, capped fees, budget estimates, hourly, daily, monthly, rates. Or a combination of pricing models and payment plans as appropriate to each stage of our appointment.
